Critiques
I really liked the idea of your film. I kind of imagined that whichever shirt she chose was going to be the determining factor of if it actually happened or not, not sure if that’s what you were going for, but I liked it! The only thing I would really say is to cut down on the narration and try and implement it into the dialogue if you can. Other than that I really enjoyed it!

Edit My Script !
jcannizz: Hey, so I really liked the idea of your screenplay. I think my only critique is that maybe you shorten it a little. When we reach the part about Hope being in children’s services, it’s kind like oh okay I know what’s going to come next. As I continued reading I just felt like something else important was going to happen. But I really liked the end, and even if she...

Critiques
I really really enjoyed your screenplay! However, I think I got the benefit because I was able to read the entire thing and not just listen to it. So I guess my only critique is to try and add the dialogue just a bit more so that the viewers have the same awesome experience as the reader! The end was by far my favorite!

FYOS Event 3
I went to a lecture yesterday where a woman named Amy Flurry spoke. She is an editor and stylist and worked on magazines such as Lucky and InStyle. I found it really interesting that she works in the fashion world and yet she lives in Athens, Georgia. She said that she lived New York for some time, but she felt her needs were better suited to the southern viewers. She wasn’t an excellent...

FYOS Event 2
Went to Greek Grind 2k11!!! This is a dance show in which every sorority has an opportunity to create a team to compete. Their goal is to win the actual dance competition, but also raise money for a philanthropy. I had heard a lot about Greek Grind leading up to the event and it surpassed all my expectations. It was held at the Classic Center, and the show was sold out.  I was skeptical of how...

FYOS Event 1
Went to Cine with the class and saw some very interesting films! My first experience at a film festival and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite film was called “Diks”, and was about a simple miscommunication that led to the destruction of a family. Though it sounds depressing it was extremely funny.

Critique my screenplay!
I really liked the idea behind your screenplay. One thing that I noticed was that in the end I really wanted her and Aaron to end up together! But also I like the ending as is, where she is forced to accept her actual reality instead of her dreams. Sorry if that’s no help, but I really enjoyed yours!

I really like what you said about the dog. I felt the same way, when it first appeared it was almost as if the dog knew what he had done and was about to “tell” his owner. I think the dog represents the rest of the world and it’s as though everyone knows, but they really don’t.

Incident
I really enjoyed this film. Thinking about it now, it seems a little shallow though. While there are tons of symbols and themes to take from this, it really is very simple. He killed a man, didn’t know what to do, and felt really bad about it. To me, this just seems to be about being human, I have always wondered what I would do if I was in that situation. Watching it, it is easy to say...

Doodlebug
The first thing about this film for me was the title. My grandfather called me doodlebug all through my childhood, even in his worst days of Alzheimer’s he still managed to call me doodlebug. So with that being said…this was interesting for me. The first scene made me think the main character was on some sort of drugs. The next few scenes with the phone in the fish tank kept my...

Bean Cake
Food is definitely very important to all of us. On a good day I may even put a good steak ahead of my mother.  I didn’t thoroughly enjoy this short until the end. I felt bad for him because he was the shy, quiet new kid, and his answers were wrong. When the teacher began talking about the emperor and then asked him what he valued most, I was very afraid his answer would be bean cakes. While...

Post-it Love
Eh…this was okay. Maybe if I was in a better mood I would have liked it more. It was upbeat which is a nice change. The music made me happy which is also good. I liked that the setting in the copy room was almost exactly the same. Their nervous awkwardness was also cute too I must admit. I really liked how the pictures kept getting more intricate and detailed, and how the sign outside the...

For Our Man
Several thoughts on this. First one is throughout the entire film the narrator was just a schizo Santa Claus. His voice sucked, and I hated it. It was a little creepy and he was just a weird dude. Second thought, holy cow my language arts teacher actually taught me something. Stream of consciousness was all I could think throughout this entire short. I don’t necessarily hate it, I usually...

tothemoon: For Our Man →
I felt the exact same way about his voice. When the short first started I kind of groaned and thought, “Really, I have to listen to this for twenty four minutes.” I think towards the end I started to appreciate it more, but when he was ranting and raving and making no sense it was too distracting to even try and understand what he was talking about.

Cashback
It seems that a lot of us really liked this film and I will agree I did like it. Somewhere in between like and love I would say. I think the reason I was so drawn to this film is because this is the first character that I can substantially relate to. I spent my entire summer working eight hour shifts. My circumstances were quite different and I didn’t hate my job but I did in fact also need...

Sooner or Later
I don’t really know how to feel about this. It was interesting but gave nothing solid to build from. I saw the confused nature of the character and I picked up on his wariness as well but I initially thought that stemmed from being a prisoner in a Nazi war camp. The ash tray seemed to have some significance and at the end when all the butts of the cigarettes were together it was overwhelming...

tothemoon: Morning Fall →
The part you mentioned about September 11th and the plane is so interesting. I read the dedication and everything but didn’t put the plane part together until i read your analysis. I also really liked what you said about the phone call and how it relates to both. Especially the emotion in his voice it’s as though he knows something’s not right.

Morning Fall
I had to watch this short twice to fully understanding the meaning of the film. The first time I only looked at the surface. I saw the man retracing his steps trying to figure out how his motorcycle accident occurred. It was very obvious  that every single scene had importance and there was nothing random or accidental about this short. The man is just trying to figure out how his accident...

Untitled: Gridlock →
I really liked what you said about the winter setting. I hadn’t put that together until I read your review but then I began to think about all the books I’ve read which do take place in that gloomy, lifeless setting. I also really really liked what you said about the police cars. His annoyance and anger towards them stuck out to me from the beginning so perhaps his attitude towards...

Gridlock
I don’t really know how to feel about this. Immediately it becomes apparent that he is angry and stressed out and all of the above. The first time he takes the pills the bottle is flashed very quickly, I was trying to see if it was a prescription bottle but I couldn’t tell. The next time he takes them it is blatant that he is abusing his medication, whatever it is for. I find it strange that a...

The Lunch Date
This short really pleased me. The woman seems to appear very affluent with the way she is dressed and her mannerisms in general. My first question is where is she going that it is so important that it nearly brought her to tears when she missed the train. My second question is was she upset because she didn’t get where she was going or is she upset that she is where she is and she feels she...

Flooding the Senses.: The Crush →
I liked your comparison between the two relationships. I hadn’t thought about it like that before. While they are both blinded, they still end up doing what is right. Love makes people do crazy things.

The Crush.
I absolutely completely enjoyed this film. From the very beginning I was captivated by what seemed to be such childhood innocence. His intelligence far surpassed my expectations for this film. The way he articulated his words and was so quick on his feet made the pace of the film quick and kept me guessing even though it wasn’t very action packed. His love and devotion to his teacher is...

Get that number.
The beginning of this did not seem promising at all, but once Scottie was introduced my opinion lightened up a little. His character represented all the lonely guys out there who just want to find a good girl. While his friend represents quite the opposite. The friend exudes all the qualities Scottie DOESN’T like in men and the whole dating process. While he seems to look up to his friend...

Zen and the Art of Landscaping
Obviously this is about as far from “zen” as you can get. At the point where the son finds out he adopted I yelled out loud to myself, “This is bullshit.”  It was quite apparent from Jean’s first appearance that she and Zen were going to have some kind of sexual relationship. Typical cliche, rich lonely woman and attractive young yard boy, or rather, landscaper. More...

The Big Shave
This absolutely disgusted me. My stomach still hurts and I watched it about ten minutes ago. I don’t understand this at all. After reading other reviews and doing research of my own I do understand the Vietnam symbolism but that doesn’t refute anything I have previously said. I do agree that the all white bathroom presents a good contrast for the blood spillage but I feel like there is...

jcannizz:I really like your positivity and I agree with a lot of things you have said. It was really interesting to see your take on it and it was nice to see your technical thoughts as well.  First off, content aside, I thought this film was really well made. The production value was very clean and simple and I thought it really added to the tone of the film. The plot is about a woman (the...

WatchWatch
“Old Seats”.  I don’t necessarily like this but it struck me instantly. I had to rewind several times to get the full understanding and just for giggles I watched it again. The storyline is abrupt and harsh and the impact is overwhelming. Just made me stop and think.
